Firm History
In late 2002, Andrew Linbeck, Jeremy Radcliffe and Haag Sherman founded Salient Partners, and by year-end had been joined by John Blaisdell, Matt Newtown, John Price and Adam Thomas. A year later, Salient merged with Pinnacle Management and Trust, bringing Stephen Reckling, Steve Strake and their team on board and establishing the current management team.
Salient’s founding partners began working together in the early 1990s and were pioneers in developing and implementing institutional-quality portfolios for their clients. The addition of elements to the portfolio such as multi-strategy arbitrage and private equity helped improve and smooth returns, particularly during and after the NASDAQ-led market crash of 2000 to 2002.
Salient’s investment philosophy most closely resembles the highly-diversified, multi-asset class approach combining traditional and alternative asset classes utilized by the managers of endowments at institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Notre Dame, Rice University, the University of Texas and Yale University.
Today, Salient Partners has emerged as a leader in providing sophisticated investment solutions for high-net-worth and institutional clients with a global perspective. Our investors are located across the United States, as well as Mexico, South America, Asia and Europe. We invest globally, allocating across multiple asset classes.
We believe that our firm’s growth is due to our client focused approach. Our superior client service is a result of the expertise and experience of our founders, our professionals in the development, distribution and management of investment products, as well as the integration of non-traditional asset classes and investment strategies (collectively referred to as “alternatives”). In particular, we believe our extensive knowledge in the design and application of asset allocation models incorporating both traditional assets, such as stocks, bonds and cash with alternatives has contributed significantly to the growth of our assets under management. This practice continues to differentiate us from other professional managers.
Salient Partners is fully-owned by its management team, many of whom are multi-generation Houstonians. Already the third-largest money management firm in Houston1 after only 7 years of operation, we continue to grow in terms of our clients, our assets under management, and our team of highly-qualified people, which is now over 70 strong.
